PETERBOROUGH INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S CHORAL FESTIVAL 2027

Linda Alexandersson – juror

Linda Alexandersson is a Swedish conductor, composer, and arranger known for her expressive, text-driven approach to contemporary choral music.

She studied at the Malmö Academy of Music, where she specialised in choral conducting alongside composition, music theory, and vocal pedagogy. This training gave her a strong technical foundation and a lasting connection to the Scandinavian choral tradition, particularly its emphasis on tonal clarity, blend, and natural vocal production.

Since 2012, she has served as Artistic Director of Damkören Korallerna, shaping the ensemble into one of Sweden’s leading women’s choirs. Under her leadership, the choir has developed a distinctive sound characterised by warmth, precision, and clear storytelling. Her rehearsal approach combines structure with creativity, encouraging singers to engage deeply with both the musical and textual aspects of the repertoire.

Alexandersson’s programming reflects a balance between tradition and innovation. She frequently performs Nordic choral music alongside contemporary works, often commissioning or creating new material for the ensemble. Folk influences and text-based interpretation are recurring elements in her artistic work, contributing to a repertoire that feels both rooted and modern.

As a composer and arranger, she writes idiomatically for voices, with lyrical melodies, transparent textures, and carefully crafted harmonies. Her music is widely performed by choirs in Sweden and internationally. Her arrangements, particularly of folk songs, are noted for their sensitivity and originality, often reimagining familiar material through subtle harmonic and textural changes.

In addition to her work with Korallerna, Alexandersson is active as a guest conductor and educator across Europe. She leads workshops and masterclasses focused on ensemble singing, vocal technique, and interpretation, and is committed to supporting the development of young singers and conductors. Through her combined work as conductor, composer, and teacher, she has become an influential figure in Swedish choral music, contributing to both its preservation and its ongoing evolution
