Education and Outreach

Our work in the community…

Peterborough Sings! is a music education charity which aims to make singing inclusive and accessible to everyone regardless of gender, age, cultural, social or economic background. Over the last decade Peterborough Sings! has introduced literally thousands of local adults, young people and children to the joys of group singing, a journey which many people have described as ‘empowering’ and even ‘life-changing’.

Singing comes naturally and instinctively to most people – we do it to celebrate, we do it to commiserate – on the football terraces, in the pub, at weddings and at funerals... everyone can do it... and it has proven benefits for both physical and mental health and wellbeing.
— William Prideaux, director

As well as supporting three community choirs - Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Voices and Peterborough Community Chorus - Peterborough Sings! runs an extensive programme of education and outreach work to promote singing in the local community, including the Arts Council England-funded Peterborough Schools’ Singing Strategy and popular ‘pop-up’ community singing projects Sing for Life and Men United in Song.
