Will Prideaux, director, Peterborough Sings!
Will Prideaux is one of the UK’s most dynamic choral conductors, educators, and advocates for the renewal of choral singing. He works extensively across the UK and internationally as a conductor, choral director and consultant, and is widely recognised for his visionary work in the male and equal voice choir sectors.
Will studied music at Liverpool University, Cambridge University, and the Royal Academy of Music, where he specialised in voice and choral conducting. He holds a Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music in Choral Conducting (with distinction), and in 2023 was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
He is Director of Peterborough Sings!, the city’s award-winning choral organisation and music education charity, which encompasses Peterborough Male Voice Choir, Peterborough Peterborough Voices, Youth Choir, and Peterborough Community Chorus. He also leads the Arts Council England funded singing strategy for Peterborough Music Hub.
Will is nationally recognised as a specialist in the equal voice genre and has worked as a consultant to numerous choirs across the UK. He has delivered keynote addresses at the UK Male Choir Conferences in 2018, 2023 and 2025, and was a guest speaker at the 2011 International Male Voice Choir Symposium.
His guest conducting credits include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, the Central Band of the RAF, and leading brass bands such as Black Dyke, Grimethorpe Colliery, and Brighouse and Rastrick. In the field of competition and adjudication, he has been invited to adjudicate at major events including the Men of Song Choral Festival in Perth, Australia, the Mary Wakefield Westmorland Festival, and the Bournemouth International Male Choir Competition. In 2011 he received the Conductor’s Prize at the Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival, and in 2022, the same honour at the Riga International Choral Competition. In 2023, Will represented the UK at the Interkultur International Conductors’ Seminar in Wernigerode, Germany, where he directed the prestigious Rundfunk-Jugendchor Wernigerode. In 2024, he conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert celebrating the centenary of Gustav Holst and completed an Arts Council England-funded research trip to Vancouver and San Francisco, where he explored international best practice in equal voice choral work.
A passionate advocate for repertoire reform, inclusion, and musical development, Will has led a bold transformation of Peterborough Male Voice Choir, pioneering a nationally recognised project-based recruitment model now adopted by choirs across the UK. He recently led a nationwide research project into the state of the UK equal voice choral sector in partnership with the University of Sheffield.
Whether on the podium or behind the scenes, Will’s work consistently combines artistic excellence with strategic thinking and a deep commitment to community engagement. He continues to shape a modern, diverse, and thriving future for choral music in the UK and beyond.
